Story Assignment: It was my turn in our weekly storytelling rotation, so I geared up to share my own story.
Narrative Outline: remembered the key moments, favorite memories with my dad, those “aha” lessons, to nail the “Life After Dad” feel.
Logistics & Setup: We grabbed the meeting room for the shoot, penciled in the date, and ran a quick lighting and sound check so everything would flow smoothly.
Production
Setting the Scene: We shot at our house in Sharjah the place was so quiet and empty, it felt perfect for those darker, more emotional indoor scenes. Then we headed outside together to capture the “lost” moments and that sense of loneliness.
Crew & Roles: I handled the camera & lighting setup myself, and Darryll Directed , we worked side by side on framing each shot to really bring out the raw emotion.
Late-Night Grind: We didn’t wrap until way past midnight, and then we had to hustle to prep the footage for our presentation the next day.
Editing & Subtitles: Darryll handled all the cuts, set the pacing, and styled the subtitles so they fit the mood.
Finishing Touches: I took care of sound design, laid in the music and effects, then did the color grading to give it that warm, nostalgic feel.
Final Polish: We both chipped in on reviewing the cut, tweaking little details, and making sure everything flowed perfectly.
All in all, the film turned out great with just the two of us making it happen.
